In a way a feel bad for the people that knew the person I was at certain points in my life.

Like when you were 15 or 16. So glad I didn’t know you then.

Omg I wish I didn’t know me then…

I wish all of tumblr could see your photobucket.

I wrote a neat blog post. For educational purposes only, of course.

Long day/night

Couldn’t get to sleep so I decided to code some more which means that I ended up working 14-hours today. But I got the entire back-end product API created for the Eye of Horus website, switched Hushnote over to my amazon server so that it’s more reliable (it will be online tomorrow), and started wireframing Peer Stream using a new code editor called Light Table.

A clothing company.

A privacy/encryption company.

A bittorrent/streaming company.

What will be next?

Coding for my hometown

I’ve been following a group of programmers who started something called Open Oakland (github) who’s mission it is to create digital tools to increase access to public information and encourage Oaklanders to engage more effectively with local-government and each other. I think this is something that developers in all cities, big and small, should start doing. Github allows you to create a Github Organization for free as long as you keep all of your repositories open-source, which is the goal from the beginning. I’ve decided to take it upon myself to create the Code Modestoorganization on Github! In the following weeks, I’ll try to recruit some developers in my area to start thinking of ways we can make an impact in our community through code. Let’s see how it goes!

onesie: a tiny shell script that makes things tinier

I was doing a little offline dev work over the weekend and needed to minify one of my js files. Usually I would just go to a website like jscompress, but like I said, I was working offline. So I decided to write a little shell script! (I love shell scripts)

I’m essentially taking advantage of the trim command like this:

cat jsfile.js | tr "\n" " " | tr -d " " > jsfile.min.js

The full code as well as instructions can be found on my Github.
